PointeDVD High Definition Performance Video
This is what happens when a ballet dad with a Communications degree finally gets to use some skills learned in TV Production 101, and has enough electronic toys to be dangerous.
I shoot video of dance performances, musicals, concerts and other events, and produce it on DVD. I am available to produce a DVD of your performance, and I can even make it a fundraiser for you. It's a turn-key process from order taking and payment handling to order fulfillment. All you do is cash the check. [click here to learn more]
We shoot the video so you enjoy the show
Sure you can do it yourself. Isn't that why you bought that video camera? You also have all the tools and ingredients to bake your own bread. But do you?
Here's a better idea: Let me do it for you. I will obsess over making sure I get all the best shots, and edit everything so it looks great. Meanwhile, you sit in the audience and watch your star in the show, rather than a tiny little video screen. And you avoid irritating the people sitting next to you.
I know dancers have feet and faces
...and my DVDs let you see them. Having a dancer in my family has taught me a lot about what makes good (and really awful) video. Knowing what to shoot is critical, and it doesn't come by accident. It takes a lot of preparation. I attend rehearsals and learn the choreography. And I don't cut off dancers' feet.
I shoot everything with at least two cameras. That way I always get a wide shot (like the one above) and a tight shot of the soloist or ensemble. Then I assemble it in post production using state of the art non-linear editing (NLE) software. I control every step of the process from taping to DVD production.
I shoot everything in High Definition Video
That picture at the top of the page is from one of my videos. It is from the North Atlanta Dance Theatre production of The Nutcracker. If you didn't know better, you might have thought is was taken with a digital still camera.
Video shot in HD looks better than Standard Definition. It is sharper, and the colors are more vivid. I start in HD, and render Standard Definition DVDs that work everywhere. Affordable HD-DVD and Blu-Ray DVD production is still off in the future. When it gets here, I'll be ready. Since I shoot and archive everything in HD, I will be able to produce HD versions when the time comes.
I think I really wanted to produce videos for MTV
I'm dating myself. I actually remember when MTV played music videos. But I don't agree that video killed the radio star.
I love shooting behind-the-scenes stuff, and taking actual performance footage and setting it to music that my daughter thinks is cool. You can see examples in my video gallery and on my YouTube channel.
